16 Personalities: What’s MY personality?

I have seen a couple of posts recently about this website called 16 Personalities. I had never heard of it before, so I was desperate to check it out!

Basically, you have to complete a quick test to find out which personality type YOU have! The test is easy to complete; all you have to do is read the statements and decide how much you agree or disagree with them. It is free to set up an account and take the test.

You can take the test just for fun, or even use it as a tool to learn more about yourself. Once you have taken the test, you will be able to read a full report about your personality type. The report covers the following topics: introduction, strengths and weaknesses, romantic relationships, friendships, parenthood, career paths, workplace habits and a conclusion

I thought this would be a fun post to do to see how accurate the personality test is, and so you can learn a bit more about me!

My results: I have the defender personality

It lets you know which celebrities and characters have the same personality as you. Famous defenders include Halle Berry, Vin Diesel, Beyoncé, Queen Elizabeth II, Kate Middleton, Anne Hathaway, Lance Reddick, Selena Gomez, Samwise Gamgee etc.

What does it say about my personality?

“There’s hardly a better type to make up such a large proportion of the population, nearly 13%. Combining the best of tradition and the desire to do good, Defenders are found in lines of work with a sense of history behind them, such as medicine, academics and charitable social work.”

Does that mean defenders are the most popular personality? That’s pretty cool! I have never had anything to do with those lines of work, I am a chef! I do like the idea of charity work and volunteering, though.

“Defenders utilize excellent memories not to retain data and trivia, but to remember people, and details about their lives. When it comes to gift-giving, Defenders have no equal, using their imagination and natural sensitivity to express their generosity in ways that touch the hearts of their recipients. While this is certainly true of their coworkers, whom people with the Defender personality type often consider their personal friends, it is in family that their expressions of affection fully bloom.”

I always make jokes about how rubbish I am at remembering data and general knowledge, however, I have a very good long term memory. I love gift-giving! I spend a lot of time planning out what to gift people to make it special and unique to them: I have had comments from people before saying how thoughtful I am when it comes to gifting. The sentence about being friends with co-workers is very true! I like to work in a small team, so I always gain close bonds with people.

“Defender personalities (especially Turbulent ones) are often meticulous to the point of perfectionism, and though they procrastinate, they can always be relied on to get the job done on time. Defenders take their responsibilities personally, consistently going above and beyond, doing everything they can to exceed expectations and delight others, at work and at home.”

I do think of myself as a bit of perfectionist, especially with things around the house, at work and my blog. I am a procrastinator, but I always get work done on time: as I’m writing this post I keep watching YouTube videos, but this post isn’t due for two weeks. I do try to go above and beyond for people because I don’t want to let anyone down.

“Repress Their Feelings – People with the Defender personality type are private and very sensitive, internalizing their feelings a great deal. Much in the way that Defenders protect others’ feelings, they must protect their own, and this lack of healthy emotional expression can lead to a lot of stress and frustration.”

Sooo true! I am a very private person, there are lots of things not even my family or boyfriend know about me- I like to keep feelings to myself. Like it says in the statement, it can cause a lot of stress and frustration because at the same time I expect people to be mind readers. I am also a very sensitive person, it doesn’t take much to upset me at all.

So, how accurate is the test?

We would be here all day if I quoted the whole report, so I have just provided you with a few snippets. The test is VERY accurate in quite a freaky way! It is good fun completing the test and fun reading back the report.

Are you going to take this test? If you do, let me know what personality you have and if you agree with it…..

  1. I did a post on my type wayyyyyy back in the day! I’m INTJ – the architect. I love my type and actually my manager had everyone at work do the test too so we could all learn a bit more about each other that way as well. It was honestly so cool and helpful.
