Birthday Haul 2017

I was going to say it was my birthday a few days ago, but it has actually been a few weeks now- my, how time flies! I didn’t celebrate my birthday much this year; I just had a few days off work to catch up with family and friends, and had some time to myself. I had a good day and was treated well.

I love reading and watching birthday hauls on here and on YouTube. I get excited to see what people have received and see how happy and grateful everyone is for their gifts. Let’s be honest, I just like to be nosey as well!

Cards, Cake and Cash

My cards made me feel a little bit sad because I received one less card this year; my Nan sadly passed away a few weeks previously, so I missed her card. My Grandad is still with us, but my Nan was always the card lady, if you know what I am.

I always appreciate cards because I like to keep them (it makes me sad that some people throw them away!). A couple of kind people gave me money inside a card, so I’m going to save it for my after Christmas sales shopping trip.

My boyfriend David got me this beautiful rose cake- it tasted as good as it looks! It looks like a posh one you might order from a shop, but it’s just from Sainsbury’s. One cake isn’t enough of course, so my parents got me one as well in case David didn’t get me one! I forgot to take a picture, but it was a yummy chocolate cake.

From my boyfriend

I usually pick something out myself for my boyfriend to gift to me, but I let him pick this year. Lindt Lindor chocolates are my all-time favourite, so he got me a large box of them (I have devoured them!). David knows I am a big candle lover, so he treated me to a special candle. I have only ever had one WoodWick candle before, so it was nice to have another. The one I’ve got here is from their trilogy range, it features three different Christmassy scents- love it! I have needed some little blogging gadgets for a while now, so he got me a clip-on ring right for my phone, a selfie stick and a mini tripod. The final thing he got for me was a silicon spatula spoon because I needed one!

From My Dad

My parents are still together, but they like to buy separate presents: Dad always buys the ‘main’ present, while Mum buys the little bits and pieces. I had been without a coffee machine for a long time as my previous one broke, so Dad kindly said he’d get me a new one for my birthday. It took me a long time to pick which one as there are so many to choose from! In the end, I picked this Inissia Nespresso one- I’ll tell you what, it makes the best espresso coffee! I bought myself an electric milk frother so I can make my own lattes and cappuccinos!

From My Mum

My Mum and I both like our homes to smell nice and welcoming, so she knows what I like! I have all of the Air Wick and Glade products (I have a post about it!), apart from this electric wax melter she bought for me. I haven’t tried it out yet, but I look forward to using it. She also got me a refill pack so I’m well stocked up. I have two Leopard Geckos called Tango and Bongo- I love them dearly! So Mum got me this Gecko ornament, it’s supposed to hang on a wall but I like it sat on my windowsill.

From My Sister

My sister kept asking me what I’d like for my birthday, but I didn’t know what to say. At first, I said I’d like some new baking trays as boring as it sounds! But at the last minute, I remembered this necklace I’ve been lusting over for a long time. It is sterling silver with a rose gold finish, and it features Cubic Zirconia on the tree branches. I am so happy to own it finally; I will get a lot of wear out of it.

From My Friend

My friend Beth featured in one of my posts here. We have been friends for a very long time; we met when we were in year five at school, so it has been around 13 years! As I’m a chef, she got me this recipe journal so I can keep track of all my recipes. She also got me this super cute little wooden heart that I have hanging up. The final thing she got me was this microwaveable owl hottie that smells like lavender- perfect for a cosy night in!

I enjoyed writing this post! I like that I’ll be able to look back on it and be reminded of what I was gifted in 2017. I loved everything I received- everyone knows me very well it seems! I would like to say thank you to everyone for their cards and presents.

What do you like to do on your birthday? What’s the most memorable thing you have received for your birthday?

  2. Sorry to hear about your Nan.
You got lovely presents. Yes keeping greeting cards is such a great thing to do as I have a bundle of greeting cards from my childhood till now and sometimes I do check them and recall memories.

  3. Sometimes a low key birthday is much better than all the fuss. I’ve found that now I’m older spending time with a few very special people is much more heart warming than a room full of randomers. LOVE the cake, I wanna piece for sure! xx

  4. Happy belated birthday! That cake looks wonderful! You received some great gifts! It’s nice to have people in your life who know you and what you’d like! I don’t much celebrate my birthday. I’ll have a small ice cream cake and a few glasses of wine with a couple of close friends.
Great post! Thank you for sharing your haul and I’m glad you had a wonderful birthday! 🙂 ❤
