I haven’t tried much new makeup out recently because I have been using up what I already have. I try to keep my makeup collection to a minimum so nothing gets wasted.
However, I picked this set up for £9 in the post-Christmas sales; the original price was £18- bargain! I love Soap & Glory’s bath and skincare products, but I’ve never tried their makeup before. This 4 piece eye set has given me the perfect opportunity to finally try some of their products out.
Once you have opened the flap on the packaging, you will see all of the products along with instructions on how to use each of them. I didn’t follow the instructions, but they look easy to follow and informative.
I have marked each product out of 5 stars so you can see which are my favourites. Just click on the headings to view the products on the Soap & Glory website.
I actually needed a new mascara, so it was handy to receive one in this set. There are a lot of mascara’s I don’t get on well with because of my blonde, short, sparse eyelashes. Because of this reason, I tend to stick with what I know and love so I don’t waste my money on a mascara that doesn’t work for me. However, let’s give it a whirl!
When you first pull the wand out, it looks like any other mascara applicator, but if you look closely, you’ll notice the unique design; it has a 7-sided fan flared brush, which is V-shaped on one side. I believe this is so you can lengthen, volumise and curl your lashes all in one. This mascara also has a boost of collagen to help your lashes in the long-term.
Yes, it all sounds good on paper, but what did I think of it? I’m not sure if the name ‘Thick & Fast”; I wouldn’t describe it as either of those adjectives, to be honest. I don’t like the look of thick ‘spider’ lashes, but I had to apply a couple of layers to make any sort of impact. But having said this, after slowly and carefully apply the mascara, I do like how it makes my lashes look. Without a doubt, my lashes look longer and the mascara stays put with no flaking.
Would I repurchase? Yes, I would if it was on offer.
Since I started wearing liquid eyeliner in my early teens, I always used the Collection 2000 liquid eyeliner- I used it for yearsss. I am happy to say that I have branched out a little bit since then! I wear liquid eyeliner a lot; it became my signature look to wear winged eyeliner. So, it’s safe to say, I go through a lot of eyeliners!
The name ‘Supercat’ suggests that it will be perfect for creating those perfect feline flicks on your eyes. It has a felt tip applicator opposed to a brush- I’m happy about that. The tip is fine enough to create a thin line, or you can apply it on the slant to create a bolder look.
The thing I like the most about pen eyeliners is that you don’t have to keep dipping the brush in to get more product- this makes it sooo much quicker and easier to apply. When I wear eyeshadow, the eyeliner applies better compared to when I don’t; I find that it drags a little bit on bare skin, but it’s not really a problem. It dries matte, but it’s not 100% black; I don’t mind this too much because you don’t always want such a harsh line. I found the eyeliner stays on all day and doesn’t flake off- perfect for long days at work.
Would I repurchase? Yes, I think I would.
I know this is going to sound crazy, but I haven’t actually been using eyebrow products for very long- maybe for around a year? I still don’t know how to do my brows properly and which products to use, but I try my best! I have experimented with a few different brow products, but I get on best with good old pencils.
I don’t recall seeing any 2-in-1 brow products before, so this is pretty cool. You get an eyebrow crayon and a handy setting gel as well. The first thing I noticed is that the crayon is slanted, opposed to having a pointed tip. The setting gel is clear so it can be used just tidy the brows up. The crayon is a warm brown colour.
When I first went to use the crayon, I didn’t know how to use the slanted tip! I just found it quite difficult to use, but I guess it would be okay after a while when it changes shape as you use it. My preference is to use a cool-toned brown eyebrow pencil as I have naturally dark blonde hair (blonde coloured pencils are too light). The setting gel is pretty good; it eliminates the possibility of having any flake off. The gel has a thin consistency, so I just rub a little bit off so I don’t apply too much.
Would I repurchase? I would if it wasn’t for the slanted tip.
I didn’t know you could still buy eyeshadow sticks like this one, to be honest- but, here it is! I’m not going to lie, I have only used this eyeshadow stick once before writing my review on it. I tend to stick to neutral eyeshadows, so this colour is something that I wouldn’t pick for myself.
I was unable to link this product back to the Soap & Glory website because it’s limited edition, just for the set I guess. The eyeshadow twists up so you don’t need to worry about sharpening it. The colour is almost black with noticeable specs of glitter in it.
I planned to apply a bit to my eyelid and blend it out, but it doesn’t want to blend! I had to apply some silver eyeshadow over the top to make it look a little bit better. I just wish it was in a different colour so I could have given it half a chance. The stick is quite chunky, but it’s thin enough to line under your bottom lashes like I did. It is difficult to apply the eyeshadow how they recommend on the packaging.
Would I repurchase? No, sorry.
Here is the final look! The only thing I struggled with is the eyeshadow- it was just too dark and full-on, so I dusted over some silver eyeshadow just to tone it down a little bit. I think the final look came out okay; I’m just not used to seeing anything other than neutral eyeshadow on myself. I have been using the mascara and eyeliner every day because I do rate them highly. I will try to use the eyebrow crayon and eyeliner up, but if I find they’re just sitting around I will pass them onto someone else. I am interested to try out some other Soap & Glory products, so let me know if you have any recommendations.
